The European Parliament is threatening to veto the talks on Brexit

The European Parliament is threatening to veto the talks on Brexit, claiming to offer other conditions for EU citizens who reside in the UK. This is stated in the letter of the coordination group of the European Parliament to the Chairman of the negotiation group of the EU Brexit Michel Barnier, reports the BBC.

«The British proposal means that EU citizens will have no guarantee that the UK Parliament will not change to British immigration laws in the future,» the letter reads.

Parliamentarians cannot agree with the suggestion of London, made at the end of June, which provides for EU citizens in Britain, the status of «settlers» after Brexit. In the EP consider that the UK needs to ensure that EU citizens all the rights they enjoy now.

The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani in his Twitter also warned of a possible veto in the absence of concessions from London.

.@Europarl_EN priority is safeguarding rights of 3m EU citizens.UK proposal inadequate. If it doesn’t improve, we’re willing to vote against
