The European Commission has said it will not pay Ukraine the third tranche of macro-financial assistance, but ready to introduce a new program in January

The European Commission announced its readiness to introduce a new program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in January 2018. The corresponding statement appeared on the website of the European Commission.

It is noted that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on November 24 in Brussels have expressed interest in this.

The European Commission said it was willing to consider the possibility of providing such a program and present it at the beginning of 2018. It is emphasized that we needed to conduct an economic evaluation, in particular to assess the need for external financing, as well as to develop the details of the new program.

«Any proposal will be subject to approval by the European Parliament and the European Council in accordance with law and regulatory practice», – stated in the message.

The Commission stated that the third tranche of the existing programme of macro-financial assistance can provide to Ukraine, as the four conditions «remain outstanding».

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the page in Facebook thanked Juncker «for the manifestation of support and solidarity with Ukraine.»

«An important decision and appreciation by the EU of the progress of our country on the path of reforms and rapprochement with the European Union», – he commented the decision of the European Commission.
