The EU underlines Russia’s responsibility for the implementation of the Minsk agreements – Tusk

The President of the European Council Donald Tusk at the summit Ukraine – EU in Kyiv said that the European Union supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, does not recognize the annexation of Crimea and calls on Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements, reports «GORDON».

«The EU clearly States that we support Ukraine against Russian aggression and the attempts to undermine Ukraine’s independence. We stated our continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. We do not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea, we call for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements by all parties and stress the responsibility of the Russian Federation in this regard», – said Tusk.

In February 2015 was signed in Minsk the agreement governing the resolution of the conflict in the Donbas. Ukraine and many EU countries have accused Russia of reneging on agreements and escalation of the conflict.

On 28 June the EU Council took a formal decision on the extension by six months of economic restrictive measures against Russia in connection with the actions of the Kremlin to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the sanctions against the Russian Federation shall be extended until the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
