The EU Council approved the granting Ukraine trade preferences

The Council of the European Union adopted a decision to provide Ukraine with additional trade preferences. About it reports a press-service of the Council.

The decision was made on 17 July at the Council meeting on agriculture and fisheries.

The European Parliament approved the extension of preferences on June 20. On 28 June the decision was supported by the ambassadors of the European Union. July 4 additional trade preferences for Ukraine approved by the European Parliament.

In accordance with the decision of the EU, the annual amount of additional quota set at the level of 3 thousand tons of tomatoes, 65 million tons of wheat, 625 thousand tons for corn, 325 thousand tons for barley.

Until the end of September, the provision should enter into force.

The agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU entered into force on 1 January 2016.

June 21, the Verkhovna Rada has approved an address to the European Parliament on the extension of trade preferences for Ukrainian goods.
