The British car Museum’s Wilton Classic & Supercar conducted a drag racing between Croatian electric car Rimac Concept_One and one of the fastest petrol cars in the world Bugatti Veyron</b>. The competition was held in Croatia. The electric car won the race, although towards the end the Veyron managed to practically catch up with the Concept_One, – N+1.
In the world today creates more and more EVS to its speed parameters are in the fastest cars with internal combustion engines. To achieve good results, developers of electric cars succeed for several reasons. In particular, the use of electric traction allows to reduce the overall weight of the car.
The race between the Concept-One and the Veyron passed on the classic dregovoy a distance of 1/4 mile (402 meters). At the start of the electric car quickly went into the lead and led for the whole race. According to the organizer of the race, the Veyron could show the best result and even overtake the electric car if not for the adverse weather conditions.
Drag racing took place in clear weather on dry pavement. The air temperature was minus five degrees Celsius. Organizers-in stated that it was not warmed up parts of the chassis and tires has made the result of the Veyron. In turn, the negative temperature played a benefit Concept_One, to prevent a strong heating of the motors and supply lines of the car at the start.
Participating in the competition Concept_One features four electric motors, each leading your wheel. The total capacity of electric motors of the machine is 1088 horsepower, or kilowatts 811. From zero to hundred kilometers per hour Croatian electric car can accelerate in 2.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 305 kilometers per hour.
In turn, the Veyron in the race were presented with the basic version with petrol engine with a displacement of eight liters and a power of 1001 horsepower (746 kilowatts). This car can accelerate from zero to hundred kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds. The car’s top speed is 407 kilometers per hour.
The fastest electric vehicle today is a French car Venturi VBB-3. In September 2016, the car set the speed record for cars of this class, speeding up to speed of 576 miles per hour. This record was recorded by the representatives of the International automobile Federation.
During check-in VBB-3 showed the average speed in 549,43 kilometer per hour over a distance of one mile (1.6 kilometers). It is also a record among electric cars. The previous speed record for electric vehicles was installed in 2010, the previous version of the Venturi VBB — VBB-2.5. This record was 495 miles per hour.
The fastest production electric car today is the American Tesla Model S P100D. In Ludicrous mode, the car accelerates to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.
