The ECtHR considers 14 thousand claims against Ukraine — ALL

The European court of human rights examined 14 thousand claims against Ukraine.

This is stated in the press service of the Supreme Council of justice of Ukraine.

Indicated that from 22 to 27 February, the ENTIRE delegation was in Strasbourg (France) and held meetings with the special representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Ukraine Christos Giakoumopoulos and with the judge from Ukraine to the ECtHR Anna Yudkivska.

«Despite the fact that 96% of the complaints recognized by the court inadmissible, now before the court is 14 250 applications against Ukraine, about 9 thousand of which relate to the non-implementation of the ECHR», — stated in the message.

A large number of repeated complaints indicates a slow process of implementation of the Convention on the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms at the national level in Ukraine.

Other common categories of citizens ‘ complaints about the length of proceedings, arbitrary or prolonged detention of a person, torture, improper treatment or punishment.

We will note, Ukraine remains one of the leaders in the number of cases considered by the ECHR. So, we have retained the lead in the number of claims pending before the court. Of the nearly 65 thousand cases in the ECHR 21,4% of lawsuits filed against Ukraine. In second place is Russia with a rate of 14.3%, the third – Turkey (13%).
