The defendant Guzhva received four years in prison with suspended sentence for two years

The Shevchenkovsky regional court of Kiev on December 21 was sentenced to four years imprisonment for extortion accomplice in the case of the chief editor of the newspaper «the Country» of the Igor Guzhva. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s office of Kiev in Facebook December 22.

The Prosecutor said that the convict pleaded guilty to committing a crime under part 3 of article 189 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (extortion) and made a deal with the investigation.

«In accordance with the agreement, the defendant fully admitted his guilt of the alleged offense and agreed to a penalty of imprisonment for four years with a probation period of two years», – stated in the message.

Not included in the message the name of the convict, but the publication of «the Country» told me that on 21 December, the Shevchenkovsky regional court of Kiev for extortion was sentenced to four years imprisonment with a suspended sentence of two years Kharkiv resident Anton Filipkowski, which appears in the Guzhva.

The Kyiv Prosecutor’s office also reported that the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings against Guzhva completed.

«After reviewing the defense with the materials of the pretrial investigation, the indictment will be sent to court», – added in Prosecutor’s office.
