The court of Spain upheld the detention of former members of the government of Catalonia

The head of the National judicial chamber of Spain decided to leave under guards of the ousted members of the government of Catalonia after they appealed against their detention. This publication reports La Vanguardia.

According to the Chairman of the chamber, the reasons why he made this decision on 2 November, has not changed.

He also noted that the detainees can leave the country if they will be released, because the former head of the Generalitat de Catalunya Carles Pujdeme is still in Belgium.

Now the defense of former Catalan officials would seek an appeal before the criminal chamber of the National court.

November 2, the national court of Spain sent under arrest of members of the government of Catalonia.

Custody of ex-officials will be before consideration of the substance of the claim of the Prosecutor’s office to draw up a separatist rebellion. They are also accused of embezzlement of budget funds. Among those arrested was the Vice-President of the Generalitat de Catalunya of Oriol Junqueras and the official representative of the Generalitat Jordi Turull.

Pujdeme demanded from the Spanish authorities to release arrested members of his government.

On 5 November, Putteman and four of his associates surrendered to Belgian police. The court forbade them to leave Belgium and obliged to inform the authorities of their whereabouts. However, on 6 November, they were released.
