The court interrogated prosecution witnesses in the case Kernes

In Kiev district court of Poltava, where he considers the case of the mayor of Kharkiv Gennady Kernes and two of his security guards suspects in the kidnapping, torture and threat of murder of two activists of the Kharkiv Bromide, adjourned until February 13. About this January 23, UKRINFORM was told in court.

«The court questioned four witnesses from the prosecution, three of them police officers and prosecutors, fourth — an employee of the cafe «McDonald’s». After interrogations, the court decided to adjourn the consideration of the case till February 13,» — said in court.

During the meeting, the Kernes and his lawyers repeatedly asked the court to stop questioning the facts that are «irrelevant to the case», and proceed to consideration of the merits of the charges. However, Prosecutor Alexander Danilov stated that the questions he asks are relevant to the case.

Before Kernes was present at the trial in Poltava, 24 Oct 2016: three months he was in rehabilitation in connection with the transferred operations.

We will remind that Kernes and his two guards (Vitaly Blinnikov and Eugene Smickey) also are suspected in the kidnapping and beating of participants of the Euromaidan on January 25, 2014.

March 2, 2015 Kernes was reported about suspicion of committing crimes under part 2, 3 of article 27, part 2 of article 146 (illegal imprisonment or kidnapping), part 2, 3 of article 27, part 2, article 127 (torture), part 2, 3 of article 27, part 1 of article 129 (threat of murder) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

High specialized court of Ukraine adopted a decision to postpone consideration of criminal proceedings against Kernes of Dzerzhinsky district court of Kharkov to Kiev district court of Poltava.

The people’s Deputy Anton Gerashchenko believes that the criminal case against Kernes is delayed.
