The Commissioner of the government of Germany on cooperation with Russia, said that U.S. policy towards Russia does not have a clear direction

US policy against Russia has no clear direction, said Commissioner of the German government for cooperation with Russia Gernot Erler in an interview with Reuters.

He positively assessed that in the course of the G20 summit in Hamburg, the President of the United States Donald trump met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and that they agreed on the establishment of the ceasefire in the South-West of Syria, and that the representative of the USA on Ukraine appointed former US Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker.

Erler stressed that it was unclear whether the administration is trump to resolve the conflicts in Ukraine and Syria, sending conflicting signals on its policy toward Russia and struggling with a continuous leakage of information about the possible links of election campaign of the current President of Russia.

The Commissioner for cooperation with Russia added that the U.S. policy towards Russia is showing indecisiveness. He noted that «no clear direction».

According to Erler, Germany’s still difficult to understand who in the new administration of the USA – Trump, Rex Tillerson Secretary of state or UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley, is to believe in determining the position of the United States against Russia. «There are so many voices and they all sound different», – he stressed.
