The Cabinet of Ministers ordered to build a «Wall» on border with Moldova

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued the action plan for engineering arrangement of the Ukrainian-Russian border and territories adjoining the districts of the antiterrorist operation and the Crimea on the border with Moldova.

According to the decree No. 1060 of 28 November, the government replaced the Ministry of regional development, construction and housing and communal services of the Ministry of agrarian policy and food in the list of state bodies that are mandated to provide funding for the action plan within the expenses provided in the state budget of Ukraine for the relevant year, and at the expense of other sources of funding not prohibited by legislation.

In the message, which is attached to the order, the adoption order will be to increase the level of protection areas in the Russian-Ukrainian & Ukrainian-Moldovan state border.

As reported in September 2014 at the time the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the beginning of the project «the Wall». In June of the same year, the Cabinet approved the project, whose cost is about $ 150 million.

At the end of 2015, the head of the state border service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko reported that the implementation of the project «the Wall» at that time concentrated on the territory of Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions. By the end of 2016 in the Kharkiv region have already completed half the work, and in the Luhansk region such work is just getting started.

In August 2016, a Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office initiated proceedings on the project «the Wall».
