The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved and submitted for consideration by the national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) suggestions on the application of restrictive measures to individuals who are involved in illegal actions against Ukrainian pilots, MP Hope Savchenko.
The corresponding decree of Cabinet of Ministers № 203-p, dated March 23, 2016 «On the application and extension of personal special economic and other restrictive measures against persons involved in illegal actions against Nadezhda Savchenko» published on the official website of the Ukrainian government on Thursday 24 March.
«In particular, it is proposed to approve the list of persons involved in illegal actions against Nadezhda Savchenko, her abduction, falsification of court documents and unlawful conviction, which will apply sanctions», — is told in the message of the Cabinet.
According to the decree, the list of persons to whom the Ukrainian government suggests applying sanctions, are in the application, provided «for official use».
For consideration by the Council will be submitted the question of publication of the list of such persons and the duration of sanctions and informing individuals about the use of sanctions.
The Cabinet in turn has instructed the Ministry of foreign Affairs after the entry into force NSDC decision on application of sanctions to inform the competent bodies of the European Union, USA and other States for the purpose of consideration of the question of the introduction of similar sanctions.
As noted in the explanation of the Cabinet, the adoption order «will further synchronization policy of Ukraine and foreign partners in the introduction of special economic and other restrictive measures in view of aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine and temporary occupation of Crimea».
As reported, on March 22, the Donetsk town court of the Rostov region (Russian Federation) Savchenko was sentenced to 22 years in prison. A sentence is considered from the moment of arrest, June 30, 2014. At this Savchenko on account of punishment is counted as a stay in custody since 30 June 2014. Thus, Savchenko should be held in colony for 20 years.
On 18 March, Polish media published a list of persons involved in the case of the Ukrainian pilots Hope Savchenko, which in Russia is undergoing trial, and for which it is proposed to impose sanctions. The list of persons includes 46 names. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on March 18 announced the preparation of a new list of persons in respect of whom must be imposed sanctions in connection with their involvement in the torture of 11 political prisoners.
