The Belarusian foreign Ministry called the resolution of the UN General Assembly on human rights in Crimea «bloating problems, which in reality is not.»

Voting Belarus in the UN General Assembly against the resolution on human rights in Crimea – this is a principled position, said December 20, the Deputy head of the information Department of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Shuplyak, reports «Interfax-West».

«Belarus has always voted against all country-specific resolutions. This is our principled position. We own experience know that such attempts of politicization, inflation problems, which in reality is not in society and state,» said Shuplyak.

In his opinion, the UN General Assembly – «no place for the discussion and adoption of such country-specific documents.»

«Our vote against this tool is an attempt to draw attention to it, not only inefficiency, but to his destructiveness. Without persistent search for ways and possibilities for rapprochement of positions, the scope of the indictment resolutions to solve existing problems not found», – said the representative of the Belarusian foreign Ministry.

March 16, 2014 after the illegal referendum, Russia annexed the Crimea. The annexation of Crimea by Russia is not recognised by Ukraine and most countries of the world.

19 December 2016, the UN General Assembly adopted the first resolution on human rights in the Crimea and Sevastopol. In the document the first time called the invader state, and Crimea – temporarily occupied territory.

19 December 2017, the UN General Assembly adopted a Ukraine resolution, which calls in particular on Russia to comply immediately with the ruling of the International court of 19 April 2017, approved measures under the claim of Ukraine against Russia for the protection of national minorities in the occupied Crimea.

The Belarusian delegation voted against the resolution.

In response, the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said that the need to replace Belarus as a platform for negotiations of the trilateral contact group.
