Tajikistan and Uzbekistan resume flights after a 24 year hiatus

Direct flights between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be resumed after almost chetvertichnogo break. 10 Feb from Dushanbe to Tashkent went first passenger plane of the Tadjik airlines «Somon air», reports BBC Russian.

The airline said that the aircraft performed the technical flight and regular flights will resume from February 20. It is planned to organize flights from Tajikistan to other cities of Uzbekistan.

Flight Dushanbe — Tashkent is carried out only on Mondays. Since the end of March the number of such flights will increase to two flights will operate on Mondays and Thursdays.

Direct flights between the two former Soviet republics was terminated in 1993 in connection with the aggravation of political relations. Also between the countries since missing passenger bus and still operates a visa regime.

At the end of November 2016 Dushanbe and Tashkent have agreed on the restoration of direct flights. The corresponding Protocol was signed in Dushanbe during the meeting of the official delegations of the two countries. It was originally planned to carry out four flights a week — two on each side. It was reported that air travel should begin no later than March 2017.
