Switzerland will hold a referendum unique: to receive all citizens on a monthly basis for 2250 Euro

In Switzerland in June will be held a referendum in which citizens decide whether they want to receive 2,500 Swiss francs (€2250) per month regardless of whether they work or not.Minors are able to get 625 francs (430 euros), says The Independent.

If this law is adopted, Switzerland will become the first country in the world that will provide unconditional basic income for its citizens.

According to the Swiss sociological survey, the majority of citizens are not going to leave work, even if they are guaranteed income. Only 2% of respondents said they would quit if the law will accept. 8% said they «would have considered this a possibility, depending on the circumstances.»

The idea of unconditional basic income in Switzerland promoted the initiative group, which included artists, writers and intellectuals, in particular publicist Daniel Straub and former member of the government Oswald Sigg.

Supporters of the initiative claim that the advocate, to break the link between employment and incomes, because people have a right to a guaranteed income regardless of whether ониl. This idea does not cause the active support from either the conservatives or even socialists.

Budget expenditures for these payments are estimated at approximately 200 billion Swiss francs a year (around 180 billion Euro).

Recall that the average salary in Ukraine is UAH 5029 (about 190 Swiss francs).

With an annual growth of Ukrainian GDP by 4%, the Ukrainian economy will reach the level of today’s Swiss in 2040.
