Summit EU — Ukraine: Poroshenko said on mutual understanding on all points

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is optimistic and says that Ukraine will cancel visa regime with the EU until the end of the year.

Ukraine and the EU confirmed that the Association Agreement can not be rewritten or revised.

This belief he expressed at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of the European Council Donald Tusk on the results of the summit Ukraine-EU Thursday 24 October in Brussels, reports «UKRINFORM».

«Despite difficulties and disagreements between the member countries (EU) and the European Parliament, it is important that we were able to provide visa liberalization to Ukraine before the end of the year», — said the President of the European Commission.

However, he noted that this can occur if the EU Council and the European Parliament agreed on a new mechanism for suspension of visa-free regimes.

At the same time, he stressed that this concerns not only Ukraine, but all countries with visa-free regime with the EU.

President Petro Poroshenko said that today’s summit Ukraine-EU in comparison with the previous summits, was most informative, and understanding was found across all issues on the agenda.

«This is not the first summit in which I participated — and as the Minister of foreign Affairs, and now as President. I can say that and at the time, and the list of issues discussed – this is the most meaningful summit, where we found mutual understanding on all the items on the agenda,» — said Poroshenko.

The President thanked the EU leaders for the high assessment of the actions of the Ukrainian authorities to reform the country.

«The main thing we noted is the indestructible unity and solidarity of Ukraine and the European Union. And because of this, we continue to note the steady progress in strengthening our partnership and the strengthening of the Association between Ukraine and EU», — said Poroshenko.

Ukraine and the EU during a summit in Brussels confirmed that the Association Agreement can not be rewritten or revised, as there can be no understating the ambition of the goals in the Agreement.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a joint press conference with European Union leaders in Brussels, reports UKRINFORM.

«Ukraine and the EU — common position that the provisions of the Association Agreement under any circumstances shall not be rewritten or revised. The same impossible is the understatement of the ambition of our goals under the agreement», — said the President.

Poroshenko expects that the ratification of the Association Agreement with the European Union will be discussed at the EU summit in December, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».

«I hope that during the EU summit, we will move the issue of ratification in order for it (the agreement) has finally earned in full as from 1 January this year, works as a FTA agreement with the EU» — said Poroshenko.

He also noted that the talks on Thursday, EU leaders and Ukraine noted a significant progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement have yet to complete ratification. In addition, according to him, the talks, progress was made regarding the process of further implementation of the Association Agreement.

As reported, Ukraine and the European Union together with the European atomic energy community signed a Memorandum of understanding on strategic energy partnership. The document was signed on Thursday 24 November in Brussels in the framework of the 18th summit Ukraine-EU. Also, Ukraine and the European Union signed an Agreement on the financing of the event «anti-corruption initiative of the EU in Ukraine».
