State statistics Committee: for the first time in four years, industrial production in Ukraine in 2016 rose 2.4%

Industrial production in Ukraine in 2016 rose 2.4% after around four years of decline: in 2015, it decreased by 13%, in 2014 — by 10.1%, in 2013 — 4.3%, in 2012 — 0.7 percent.

As reported by the press service of the State statistics service (gosstat) on Monday, 23 January 2017, in December of last year, growth compared to the same month of the previous year accelerated to 4.5% from 3.7% in November and 0.8% in October.

In accordance with a new form of data presentation, the Department clarifies that, with the correction for the effect of calendar days, industrial production in December 2016 to December 2015 has increased by 4.8% higher than in November — 2.3% and October was 1.6%.

State statistics Committee indicates that in December 2016 compared to the previous month, industrial production increased by 1.9%, and taking into account the seasonal factor — by 2.4%.

As noted by stat office, in the Luhansk region, industrial production in January-December 2016 in comparison with January-December 2015 increased 1.38 times, in the Donetsk region — 6%, including in December in Luhansk region grew by 9%, in Donetsk — by 12.2%.

In January-December positive result in industry was recorded in Kirovohrad (18,5%), Mykolaiv (10.5%) and Ternopil (9,3%), Zhytomyr and Odessa (7.7 per cent), Kharkiv (6,7%), Cherkasy (6,3%), Transcarpathian and Chernihiv (6%), Kyiv (5,9%), Vinnytsia (5,3%), Khmelnytskyi (4.5 percent) and in Kiev (of 4.2%).

As reported, the Russian military invasion in the spring of 2014 in Ukraine recorded a significant decline in industrial production, in 2015 it began to level off, and in 2016 — to slow down.

At the same time, experts pay attention to the fact that a sharp downturn was recorded in early 2010-ies, that is, the reign of the team of Yanukovych.
