Sobchak to run for the Russian presidential elections from the party «Civil initiative»

Journalist Ksenia Sobchak will head to the Russian presidential election as the candidate of the party «Civil initiative». She stated this in a joint statement with the leader of the «Civil initiative» Andrei Nechayev published on YouTube.

«I am pleased to announce that will go on elections as the candidate of the party «Civil initiative», if the Congress approves my nomination. The ideology and values of «Civic initiatives» correspond to my ideas about the future of the peoples of Russia, about freedom, about human rights,» – said Sobchak.

According to her, consultations with «Civil initiative» began a month ago.

While Sobchak said that continued calls for unity of all democratic forces.

In turn, Nechaev announced that his party will help with the creation of the socio-economic part of the program Sobchak.

Political party «Civil initiative» was created in 2013. It is headed Nechaev, who in 1992-1993 he held a post of Minister of economy of Russia.

In addition to «Civil initiatives», Sobchak was considering the nomination from the party PARNAS, and self-promotion.

October 18, Sobchak has declared its intention to participate in presidential elections of the Russian Federation. The journalist said that if opposition leader Alexei Navalny will register as a presidential candidate, she wanted to run and never will «smash a single democratic front.»

The Russian presidential election will be held on 18 March 2018. Acting President Vladimir Putin has not yet officially announced his intention to run.
