Siemens has signed its first major deal in Russia after the scandal with the supply of turbines in the Crimea

The German concern Siemens on 18 December signed a contract on construction in Nizhnekamsk of the Russian combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 495 MW. This was reported by the press service of the company.

The contract was signed in presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria, Ilse Aigner, and the President of Siemens AG Joe KAESER.

Under the contract, Siemens has pledged to build a combined-cycle power plant turnkey as a General contractor, sub-contractor is the Turkish construction company Enka.

Siemens will supply Russia with two gas turbine SGT5-2000E and one steam turbine SST-600, and also the equipment for energy distribution.

The plant should be running by may 2021, the cost of the contract includes long-term service agreement for a period of 13 years.

On 21 July, Siemens announced that in the annexed Crimea was illegally transferred four gas turbines, set in summer, power station in Taman (Krasnodar region).

In Taman the company «Tekhnopromexport» is building the power plant, where, under the contract, must be used turbine Siemens. According to Reuters, the same company associated with the power plant project in Sebastopol, and German equipment had originally planned to use the annexed Crimea.

Siemens has filed lawsuits in Russian courts and initiated the process of termination of license agreements with Russian companies in the field of supplies of equipment for combined-cycle power plants. The defendants were the company «Tekhnopromexport» and «Siemens gas turbine technology».

August 4, Official journal of the European Union published a Supplement to the list of persons and companies subjected to sanctions in connection with the annexation of Crimea. It included three men and three legal entities involved in the supply to the Peninsula turbines Siemens.
