Sharina appeal against her house arrest in Strasbourg

The Director of the Library of Ukrainian literature in Moscow, Natalia Sharina, accused by the authorities of the Russian Federation in «extremism» and embezzlement, filed a complaint on conditions of house arrest to the European court of human rights (ECHR), said her lawyer , Ivan Pavlov, head of «Team 29».

«The authorities have not provided us with a convincing case for any of the renewals of house arrest in Sharina. The necessity of deprivation of liberty, they explained the risk of concealing Sharina from justice that, at least, it is ridiculous, considering that her passport attached to the case materials, and Russia to leave she can not», — quotes its words «Interfax-Ukraine».

«The lack of walks is bad for the health of my client, even new year’s eve, the investigator did not allow her to go outside. But even in prison the inmates are allowed trips and correspondence», he added.

Previously advocates Sharina appealed against the decision of the Presnensky district court in the Russian capital on the extension of the arrest to the judicial Board on criminal cases of the Moscow city court, but the court left the complaint without satisfaction, recalled the lawyer.

«We ask the court to set the government’s violation of several articles of the Convention on the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms expressed in the fact that the next extension of the house arrest against Sharina was not needed, resulted in an excessive duration of pretrial detention and were not properly motivated» — said the lawyer Alexander Peredrukwho participated in the preparation of the complaint.
