Sands: Treaty of friendship with Ukraine is de jure valid, Russia has the right appeal to him

The state Duma appeals to the Treaty of friendship and strategic partnership with Ukraine, as de jure it remains in force. This was stated to journalists the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the reaction of the state Duma to the Ukrainian law «On education», reports RIA «Novosti».

According to Peskov, the Treaty of friendship between Ukraine and Russia has not been denounced, respectively, from a legal point of view, it appeals to the current document of the de jure is a normal practice.

On 27 September, the state Duma adopted a statement in which has accused Ukraine in the ethnocide of the Russian people in connection with the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law «On education». «The law violates basic standards of the UN and the Council of Europe Convention on the protection of the linguistic identity of indigenous peoples and national minorities contained in the international treaties ratified by Ukraine», – the document says.

On 5 September the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the law «On education», September 25, it was signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, and on 27 September he published in the newspaper «Voice of Ukraine».

The document introduces 12-year school education and the educational office of the Ombudsman, as well as expanding the use of the Ukrainian language in education.

Concern about the language of the article in the law has raised a number of countries: Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Russia, and Bulgaria and Greece.
