The Netherlands has acceded to the request of the ex-President of Georgia and leader of the «Movement new forces,» Saakashvili for a visa, said on December 21 newspaper De Telegraaf, citing sources in the Ministry of security and justice of the Netherlands.
According to the newspaper, the policy, which is not Ukrainian or Georgian citizenship, was given a visa at the Embassy of the country in Kiev.
Saakashvili explained the request for a visa to the need for family reunification.
Saakashvili’s wife Sandra Roelofs is a citizen of the Netherlands and Georgia, and their children have Dutch nationality. 20 December, she expressed hope that the upcoming holidays, her family will hold in the Netherlands.
When asked if she plans to be in Holland with her husband, Roelofs said: «I don’t know depends on him.»
On the evening of 8 December, Saakashvili in Kiev detained and placed in temporary detention. He is suspected of receiving from Russia nearly $500 thousand in funding meetings to overthrow the Ukrainian government.
The politician called the police «a provocation and a fake.»
The Prosecutor demanded for the policy measure in the form of house arrest wearing an electronic bracelet. December 11, Pechersky district court of Kiev decided to reject the prosecution’s request and released Saakashvili in court. The General Prosecutor of Ukraine filed an appeal.
The source of «Interfax-Ukraine» in law enforcement bodies reported that the leader of the «Movement novih forces» was summoned for questioning to the Kyiv Department of the SBU on 22 Dec. The lawyer Saakashvili Ruslan Chernolutsky said that a politician can’t come to the investigators that day.
Until then, Saakashvili noted that he would not urge the Ukrainians to come out on protests during the Christmas and new year holidays.
Saakashvili received the Dutch visa — SMI 21.12.2017
