Russia will hold naval exercises with China in the Baltic sea

From 21 to 28 July, Russia and China will hold joint naval exercises in the Baltic sea «Sea interaction – 2017», the press service of the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation.

The exercise will involve about ten ships of various classes, more than ten aircraft and helicopters of the Navy of the two countries.

Active phase of Russian-Chinese maneuvers will be held from 24 to 27 July, during which the parties will work out a number of joint actions at sea, as well as conduct training on the joint organization of anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-ship defense.

In the Russian defense Ministry stressed that for the first time exercises «Sea cooperation» was organized in 2012 and has since been held on a regular basis.

In September 2017 on the territory of Belarus planned exercises «West-2017». They will join more than 100 thousand military. It will be the largest Russian military exercises since 2013.

20 March, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the teachings should be available for monitoring by international organizations, including NATO. According to the Minister of defence of Estonia Margus tsahkna, Russia can use the «West-2017» to place thousands of soldiers in Belarus as a warning to NATO.

On 16 June, the commander of the US army in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges said that during the exercise the troops of NATO will strengthen its presence in Eastern countries of the Alliance.
