Russia refused to return to Ukraine control over the state border in the occupied areas of Donbass

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that it did not intend to return to Ukraine control of the border in the occupied Donbas. About it in interview to magazine «the Profile», which was released on February 15, 2016, said state Secretary- Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin.

In particular, answering a question, whether there corresponds to reality information that Russia allegedly ready to return to Ukraine control over the adjacent territory to the Russian border in the Donbas, but on the condition that the border guards will be recruited from the local population, Karasin said: «This information does not correspond to reality».

According to him, the Minsk package of measures clearly stipulates that «the restoration of Ukrainian control over the relevant section of the Ukrainian-Russian border can only happen after a comprehensive settlement of the crisis».

Thus, Karasin said, regaining control of Ukraine’s allegedly «due to the need to coordinate the details with representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk in the framework of the Contact group all the measures envisaged by the Law «On special order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions».

We will remind, on January 29, the Chairman of the parliamentary faction «Block of Petro Poroshenko» Yuriy Lutsenko expressed the belief that the control over the state border in Donbas can only provide
international peacekeeping force the OSCE without the participation of NATO countries and neighboring countries.

Russia is interested in this offer, he said.

Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin reiterated its call for the UN Security Council to take a decision on the establishment of a peacekeeping mission in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
