Russia has no right to Crimea, the sanctions will remain — Tillerson

Nominated by the elected President of the United States Donald trump for the position of Secretary Rex Tillerson called the Crimea illegally annexed by Russia территориtq. «Tillerson said Russia has no right to Crimea. «It was the conquest of the territory that did not belong to them», — stated in the message.

In addition, the journalist notes, a candidate for the office of the Secretary of state said that «the lack of a rigid and strong response to the conquest of the Crimea was hailed by the leaders of Russia as a weakness.»

Tillerson also noted that after the situation with Crimea, the United States had to provide Ukraine border controls and weapons, «to prevent the conflict in the East».

Besides, he considers it necessary to maintain sanctions against Russia unchanged until developed a new strategic approach to relations between Washington and Moscow.

«It is important that we keep the status quo for as long as we do not develop our future approaches,» said Tillerson.

According to him, the sanctions will remain «one aspect» of these approaches.

«If approved for the post I will try to get more information, including a secret, from various services to develop a strategic approach to the involvement of Russia», — said the candidate for the post of Secretary of state.
