Russia demanded from Ukraine to extradite a suspect in the murder of American journalist Klebnikov

The General Prosecutor’s office of Russia has officially demanded the extradition of the detainee in Ukraine citizen of the Russian Federation Magomed of Dukuzov suspected of involvement in the murder of American journalist, chief editor of the Russian Forbes magazine Paul Klebnikov and former Vice-Premier of the Chechen Republic Yana Sergunina. About it reports «Interfax» with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

From the competent authorities of Ukraine until not received information about the decision on the extradition request of Dukuzov, the Ministry said.

According to the Russian Prosecutor General’s office, Dukuzov was arrested in Kiev on 17 November. We are talking about Magomed Dukuzov, not about his brother, Kazbek, who is also a suspect in the murder of Khlebnikov and which detention previously reported by the media.

Klebnikov was shot dead on 9 July 2004 at the exit of edition. As the defendants in this case were the natives of Chechnya Kazbek Dukuzov and Musa Vakhayev and notary fail Sadretdinov.

In 2006, they were acquitted, but the Supreme court overturned the verdict.

Sergunin was murdered in Moscow on 25 June 2004. The car of the former Deputy Prime Minister of Chechnya was shot at the restaurant «Caucasian yard».

Magomed Dukuzov and two other suspects was hiding from the Russian authorities.
