Russia continues to use cluster munitions Syria — HRW

During the last military operations against the Syrian opposition carried out by the army of Assad and Russia, massively used prohibited cluster munitions.

This is stated in the report of the human rights organization Human Rights Watch.

So, according to the organization, from 14 strikes using cluster bombs in five Syrian provinces on 26 January killed at least 37 civilians, including six women and nine children, and dozens of others were injured.

The report highlights that a new wave of active cluster munitions started after the activation of the Russian and Syrian military control over key strategic areas in Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, HOMS and Hama.

The latest offensive in Aleppo was forced to flee from the country at least 20 thousand people.

It is also reported, there were 7 cases of use of cluster munitions in those days, when the Geneva negotiations were ongoing between the opposition and the Assad government.

Organization with reference to data of local residents also reported numerous cases of use of cluster munitions and in other regions of Syria controlled by the opposition.

Note, messages and evidence of the use by Russia and Assad’s army prohibited cluster munitions during fighting in Syria appeared in December of last year.
