The head of the Council of State of Cuba and the leader of the Communist party of the country Raul Castro has condemned the decision of the President of the United States Donald trump to abandon the rapprochement of the two States. About this Cuban leader said July 14 during a speech before the National Assembly, reports BBC.
According to Castro, «attempts to destroy the revolution» will fail. He also noted that trump is using «old and hostile rhetoric», returning to «confrontation, which lasted more than 55 years.»
Castro is confident that Cuba and the United States «can cooperate and live side by side, but no one should expect to make concessions regarding sovereignty».
June 16, trump announced he was canceling the unilateral steps undertaken by the previous administration of Barack Obama to normalize relations with Cuba.
In November 2016, trump demanded a revision of the agreement on normalization of relations with Cuba. In the administration of U.S. President said that Havana needs to open markets, ensure freedom of religion and to put an end to other violations of human rights.
