Rada sent back for revision the draft law on biometric passports

The Verkhovna Rada sent for repeated second reading the draft law No. 3224 on amendments to certain laws aimed at the liberalization of the visa regime for Ukraine, regarding the documents that confirm the citizenship of Ukraine, identity or her special status.

The bill in General was supported by only 192 MP. The decision to send the bill to prepare for the repeated second reading was supported by 246 deputies, reports «UKRINFORM».

«The purpose of the bill is to clarify the list of documents that certify identity, confirm Ukrainian citizenship or special status of a person with contactless electronic media or without it, determining the legal status of certain categories of persons, the elimination of legal gaps in the existing legal regulation», — is spoken in the explanatory note to the document.

The bill is in line with current legislation the Law of Ukraine «On unified state demographic register and documents which confirm nationality of Ukraine, certify the identity and its special status».

Also, the draft law proposes to introduce the obligation of registration of the passport of citizen of Ukraine after reaching the age of 14; introduction of the identity card that needs additional protection and a travel document of a person granted subsidiary protection.

In addition, the bill provides for the introduction of the card of a migrant worker, as the identity document of a foreigner or person without citizenship who intend to do business in Ukraine and confirms legal grounds for stay in Ukraine.

We will remind, on January 28 the Verkhovna Rada adopted in first reading a change in the law regarding the documents that confirm the citizenship of Ukraine, certify the person or its special status, aimed at liberalization of the visa regime between the European Union and Ukraine.
