To link the lifting of European Union sanctions against the Russian Federation with the settlement of the situation in Ukraine and the bringing to fruition of the Minsk process pointless, sooner or later the relationship with Europe will be normalized. This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin after talks with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, reports «RBC-Ukraine» with reference to Russian media.
«To link the lifting of sanctions by the European Union with the final decision, bringing to a logical conclusion of the Minsk process is meaningless today because, I repeat, not on Russia’s side is the ball. But we take this process calmly, confident that sooner or later it will happen — the normalization of relations between Russia and the EU,» Putin said.
«Let me remind you, the key thing is a political settlement, the creation of political conditions, chief of which is the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine. It is expressly provided for in the Minsk agreements,» Putin said.
He again stated that after amending the Constitution of Ukraine should be deciding elections in the Donbass and other items.
We will remind, on 13 February during the Munich security conference U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry said that economic sanctions against Russia will remain until the full realization of the Minsk agreements. The high representative of the European Union for foreign Affairs and security policy — Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini at a meeting in Munich also supported the need to maintain sanctions against Russia to fulfil its Minsk agreements.
Note, international sanctions, low oil prices and falling rouble threatens Russia’s default. Many experts believe that for the sake of the economy, the Kremlin will be replaced by an aggressive policy of «conciliatory» and start implementing the Minsk agreements, gradually retreating from the Ukrainian Donbass.
