The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed bill No. 2490а that detainees have the right to use the Internet.

The relevant information is published on the page of the bill on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the document, prisoners will have the right to use the Internet, however access will only restrict viewing of information under the control of the administration of correctional institutions. In addition, inmates are forbidden to create mailboxes, sign on websites, send emails, generate a database, visit social networks, play online games, and visit sites of erotic or pornographic content. Internet access is allowed during the day in your spare time, and is paid from personal funds.

It is also reported that during their stay in health care institutions with permission of the administration of the penal institutions, inmates can carry and use laptop computers with Internet access.

Earlier, prisoners were allowed to serve their sentences in prisons near places of residence.

In may, the Cabinet approved the reform of the penitentiary system.
