The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during the first in the history of bilateral relations meeting with crown Prince Alois of Liechtenstein thanked for the response of the Principality to the aggression of the Russian Federation and discussed the development of trade-economic cooperation.
«This is a historic meeting in the relations between our countries, because there had been no contacts at the highest level. This should be a stimulus for activation of bilateral relations», — quotes Poroshenko a press-service of the Ukrainian President on Tuesday 17 January.
The parties also discussed ways of strengthening trade-economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
«The crown Prince of Liechtenstein said that his country will introduce a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens immediately after a similar decision of the European Union», — said the press service of the President.
Poroshenko thanked the Prince for the principled position of Liechtenstein in responding to Russia’s violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, including joining the EU sanctions, support the relevant resolutions at the UN.
The Ukrainian head of state noted the active participation of Liechtenstein in overcoming the humanitarian consequences of the Russian aggression, financial participation in the construction of protective sarcophagus over the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl NPP, as well as in support of reforms in Ukraine.
Earlier today, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Davos, following talks with President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard said that Switzerland is ready to provide the citizens of Ukraine visa-free regime immediately after a similar move by the European Union.
Prince Alois promised Poroshenko that Liechtenstein will introduce a «bezviz» Ukrainians immediately after the EU 18.01.2017
