Poroshenko wrote Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and occupied Crimea

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko joined the new year’s marathon «We are stronger Kremlin grids» and wrote letters to the citizens of Ukraine detained in the occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation. This was announced by Alexander Matviychuk , coordinator of Euromaidan SOS, which acted as the initiator of the marathon, reports «UKRINFORM».

According to Matviychuk, the President wrote letters to all the citizens of Ukraine, included in the list of political prisoners in the campaign LetMyPeopleGo, including correspondent of «UKRINFORM» Roman Sushchenko, which the FSB wrongfully detained in Moscow.

«Today, when You are cut off from family and friends, would like to bring You into the New year with a strong belief in the power of unity that knows no boundaries or obstacles. Your fellow citizens — are morally with You, next. Worried about you the whole country», — in particular, the President said in the letter.

Coordinator of Euromaidan SOS has reminded that for today in the conclusion of the Kremlin for political reasons is at least 36 citizens of Ukraine, and about 10 cases of Euromaidan SOS studies for inclusion in the list of LetMyPeopleGo.

These people were charged with trumped-up criminal cases of espionage, separatism, terrorism, extremism and sabotage activities. The vast majority of them were denied the right to legal protection and medical assistance, many were subjected to cruel torture, the part is already serving a sentence in the most remote corners of Russia. Among these people there are parents with many children, pensioners, people with severe chronic diseases, human rights defenders, artists and journalists.

Someone for the first time, and some of them for the second time or the third time spends the Christmas holidays in the cold walls of Russian prisons. So Euromaidan SOS, together with partners started the new year marathon of letters to give these people a little warmth in the New year. For them, the letters will is a breath of freedom, communication with the outside world and a huge moral support. The letters remind the prisoner of the Kremlin that they are not forgotten, that their liberation struggle that they are waiting for free. And give a firm confidence that «we is stronger than the Kremlin lattices».

According to Matviychuk, the letters to political prisoners in Russia, was sent by an official in the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation and Crimean were transferred to the volunteers of Euromaidan SOS, which on the channels will give them to recipients.
