Annexed by the Russian Federation, the Crimea will receive the supply of electricity only after the return of Ukrainian sovereignty.
This was said on Thursday 14 January, President Petro Poroshenko during her first 2016 press conference.
«We are ready to supply Ukrainian electricity to the Crimea, do not want to wait for the proposals the return of Ukrainian sovereignty in Crimea,» he said.
Poroshenko stressed that the Ukrainian authorities will resume the supply of electricity to the Crimea immediately after the signing of the Treaty in which Crimea will be shown as part of Ukraine.
«My position absolutely clear and transparent – live in the Crimea citizens of Ukraine, and we do everything in order no to complicate their lives. But for signing the contract for the supply of electricity…. we will sign the contract and provide energy supplies, but the contract must contain the words «supply of electricity to the facility and deposited in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine» — we have no other alternative,» he said.
Poroshenko stressed that no energy blockade of the Crimea is not performed, and «there is a format of commercial contracts, where we clearly note position, which was recognized by the whole world».
«But in response, the party decided to abandon the signing of this agreement. This was not the position of Ukraine, and we will never recognize the annexation of Crimea, just as it does not recognize the whole world», — said the head of state.
«Despite the terrible criticism, that we have this winter irreversible blackouts, we will remain without gas, without electricity, without coal, will stop the industry forward. The light is, even without flows from the Russian Federation. And we are ready to supply electricity, but in Ukrainian Crimea», — said Poroshenko.
As reported previously the Minister of energy and coal industry Volodymyr demchyshyn said that Ukraine will not supply electric energy in Russia annexed the Crimea without the signing of the Treaty: «the Russian Position is that it is not prepared to sign the agreement on conditions of Ukraine and our political position was previously announced — we are unable (to supply electricity), we have no reason. And so therefore, all this talk about the price. At the moment there is no agreement, respectively, and we do not supply».
On January 12, one of the initiators of the energy blockade of the Crimea, people’s Deputy of the faction «Block of Petro Poroshenko», the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev expressed the view that the question of a new agreement on the supply of electricity in the Crimea annexed by Russia can be considered closed, because Moscow does not agree with the Kiev conditions.
On 20 September at the initiative of the Crimean Tatars began the «commercial blockade» of the Crimea.
On 20 November, at about 9:00 am, «unknown» was damaged two electric poles, leading to Crimea, in Genichesk and Chaplinka districts of Kherson region.
