The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko today, February 4, invited the ambassadors of the countries «Big seven» to explain the fate of the government and reforms. This was reported to journalists by the head of delegation of the European Union in Ukraine Ian Tombinsky, reports UNIAN.
«We will have a meeting with the President. What is most important for us is to keep all these reforms that have already been developed, and to consolidate this reform path. We are waiting for the answer for this all information from the Prime Minister and the President … the President invited the ambassadors of the countries «Big seven» to today together with the Prime Minister to explain to us the way it would be, and what will happen next,» — said Tombinsky.
«Yesterday, we heard that they (the Ukrainian authorities – ed.) were all interested to those people who have worked through reforms so that they remained in the government. We are interested in information and explanation from the President and Prime Minister, but I am sure that there will be no radical changes, and no (change) in the way of reforms. This path of reform cannot change, and Ukraine and its leaders also understand that» — said Tombinsky.
Thus, answering the question, will not hurt the situation with Abromavicius financial cooperation with international partners, the Ambassador said: «This financial cooperation with international institutions and Ukraine, as a state, it’s not private any discussions with any Minister».
According to sources «Interfax-Ukraine», the meeting will be held today at 14:00.
It is planned that the meeting will discuss the staffing situation in government, the progress of reforms and the situation of international financial assistance to Ukraine. «Quite possibly, will raise issues related to the next tranche of the IMF», — he said.
According to the information at the meeting with the ambassadors will be Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Groysman.
Recall that on 3 February the Minister of economic development and trade aivaras abromavicius announced his decision to resign. One of the main reasons he called the pressure and corrupt practices by the people’s Deputy from «Blok Petro Poroshenko» Igor Kononenko, whom the media also referred to as «financial guarantor» of the President of Ukraine.
Abromavicius deputies also resigned.
Kononenko called emotional decision Abromavicius and considers it an attempt to absolve themselves of responsibility for failures in the work of the Ministry.
In the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings on application by the Minister of economic development.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk promised to protect the members of the Cabinet from the pressure, but noted that «resignation is to escape from the battlefield».
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Abromavicius and stated that he should remain at his post. The Minister took the time at the thought.
Ambassadors of European countries, USA and Canada also opposed the resignation of Abromavicius.
