Poroshenko: Ukraine continues its transformation and is looking for a reliable economic partners

In the framework of the Ukrainian-Maltese business forum in Kiev, an agreement was signed between the chamber of Commerce of Ukraine and Chamber of Commerce, enterprise and industry Malta on the establishment of Ukrainian-Maltese business Council. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.

«The Ukrainian chamber of Commerce and Chamber of trade, industry and enterprise of Malta shall provide information and Advisory services for Ukrainian and Maltese entrepreneurs to extend business offers, share other information and normative acts regulating foreign economic activities in our countries,» – said the press service.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who took part in the forum, called long-term cooperation with Malta in the field of IT, telecommunications and technology services, which account for 75% of the Ukrainian export of services.

Poroshenko said that six months of 2017, Ukraine’s real GDP grew by 2.3%.

«This is a demonstration of our stability. I can assure you that the prognosis is good,» said the President.

He added that the expected GDP growth in Ukraine – more than 2% in 2017, and 3.2% in 2018.

«Ukraine continues its transformation and is looking for a reliable and strong economic partners,» – said Poroshenko.

The President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro of Preko, which is on a visit in Kiev, have expressed interest in cooperation with Ukraine.

«Malta has much to offer Ukraine and logistics centers, financial institutions, educational institutions, tourism, hospitality services, medical education, studying English as a foreign language, and more», – said the President of Malta.

She added that Malta is interested in the agricultural products of Ukrainian origin, as well as in IT services.

Poroshenko said on September 21 that Ukraine’s economy has been growing for six consecutive quarters.

The Ministry of Ukraine on September 29 said that they expect GDP growth in Ukraine in 2017 1.8% 2018 3% 2019 3.6%, in 2020 – 4%.

On June 6 the world Bank improved the forecast of GDP growth in Ukraine to 2018, from 3% to 3.5%. The Bank has kept the GDP growth forecast for the current year at 2%.

According to the forecast of international rating Agency Fitch, in 2018, the GDP growth may reach 3% due to improved consumer demand and investment.
