Poroshenko: stayed one night for making the last «visa-free» laws

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged MPs on Thursday, 18 February 2016, to adopt the remaining laws necessary for visa-free regime with the EU.

Groysman instructed the Parliament to call the MPs and tell them about the consideration of the «visa package» of laws at the evening session

«Out of the parliamentary-governmental crisis requires swift and decisive action, but this crisis should in no way impede the European integration of Ukraine. Just one single day, even only in the evening, for making the last few laws that open the door to citizens of Ukraine for visa-free travel to the EU», — noted the head of state to MPs published on the official website of the President.

According to Poroshenko, in Brussels and other European capitals he personally «did everything for quick formalization of the decision on visa-free regime». «This formalization of the Commission will start tomorrow, if today you, the parliamentarians, would make the necessary laws», — he stressed.

The President reminded that the intention necessary to support the remaining bills, «said all Pro-European factions, both within the coalition and outside of it» and encouraged «some members and whole committees» to refrain from «improvements» of these documents.

«The vote is necessary in the wording, which requires the European Union», — said Poroshenko.

«I ask you, how long have we advise the Europeans to play by the rules of the European Union and not to play with the rules,» adds the President.

The President also asked members of Parliament to support today two laws that will punish perpetrators of crimes against Euromaidan and the Ukrainian people committed by the authoritarian regime of Viktor Yanukovych. «One of them must open the door to absentia proceedings against the organizers of the horrible inhuman crimes committed against participants of the Revolution of Dignity. Another is to return to the budget loot organized criminal group of Yanukovych and to use this resource for strengthening the country’s defense capability,» he elaborated, in particular, Poroshenko.

We will remind, on 18 February 2014 in Kiev loyal to Yanukovych, the security forces started mass executions of participants of anti-presidential protests. During 18-21 February, dozens of people were killed, hundreds were wounded.

On the evening of 21 February, Yanukovych withdrew from performing his constitutional powers.
