The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko started the working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The head of Ukraine will hold a meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the press service of the Ukrainian President.
Poroshenko and Merkel coordinated position concerning the road map for the implementation of «Minsk»
The program provides a joint statement of leaders of Ukraine and Germany for media representatives. Online broadcast of the event will be held on the official Youtube channel of the presidential administration of Ukraine at approximately 15:35 (Kyiv time).
In addition, a planned meeting of the President with the Vice-Chancellor and foreign Minister of Germany Sigmar Gabriel.
Poroshenko already held a meeting with President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert.
The Ukrainian head of state reported about the worsening situation in the Donbass, and also about the ongoing hybrid aggression by Russia.
In this context the interlocutors stressed the importance of maintaining the unity and solidarity of an effective response to the existing threats to peace and security.
Petro Poroshenko thanked for the strong stance Lammert in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and decisive rejection of Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
The parties agreed on the importance of policy support sanctions against Russia until full compliance with the Minsk agreements.
The two sides also discussed Ukraine’s progress on the path of reforms and the corresponding ability of the Bundestag to support the efforts of Ukrainian government in this direction.
The head of state and the President of the Bundestag underlined the importance of accelerating the granting Ukrainians a visa-free regime and ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
The President of Ukraine appealed to the German Parliament to recognize the Holodomor as act of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
Petro Poroshenko and Lammert also stressed the importance of the «Day of Ukraine» in the spring of this year in the Bundestag, which will be an occasion to showcase the achievements of Ukraine in implementing reforms and business and investment opportunities in Ukraine.
As also previously reported that Poroshenko will participate in Munich security conference to be held 17-19 February. Note, topic No. 1 at last year’s, the 52nd Munich security conference was the military aggression of Russian Federation against sovereign Ukraine.
