Poroshenko signed a decree on the celebration of the Year of Japan in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the celebration of the Year of Japan in Ukraine during the meeting with the Ambassador of Japan Sieci the Amount expressed gratitude to «the land of the rising sun» for its continued and firm support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which the country has consistently demonstrated.

As reported on Wednesday, January 11, the press service of the Ukrainian President, Poroshenko also pointed to the role of Japan in providing assistance to Ukraine in the structural reforms and recalled the allocation of $ 1.8 billion for 2014-2016 to support the Ukrainian state in the way of change in many spheres of public life, in particular in reforming law enforcement bodies and creating the new police force, the implementation of judicial reforms addressing a number of environmental programs and other projects.

«It is very symbolic that the Year of Japan in Ukraine will occur in the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries», — said the President.

The head of state expressed the belief that this unprecedented event will be a milestone in Ukrainian-Japanese bilateral relations, will contribute to the rapprochement of cultures and peoples, strengthen interpersonal contacts.

As reported earlier, the Ambassador of Japan in Ukraine Sumi said that his country was the only country in Asia, which imposed sanctions against Russia for occupation of Crimea and war in Donbas.
