Poroshenko: Sharp rise in prices of liquefied petroleum gas is unacceptable and will not remain without reaction of the authorities

Ukraine needs to get rid of dependence on Russian LNG and exploited a monopoly position in the market of gas suppliers will be fined. This is stated in the statement of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his page in Facebook.

«The sharp rise in the price of liquefied natural gas is unacceptable and will not remain without reaction of the authorities. Instructed the Antimonopoly Committee to take all measures in order to prevent monopoly and growth rates. Checked all gas suppliers. And if it is established that the receipt of high monopoly profits, those who allowed it, will be fined», – he stressed.

The President added that many drivers use as fuel gas, so sharp rise in prices is unacceptable.

«There is a second component of the geopolitical. You know that in the context of a hybrid war, when the main supplier of liquefied natural gas were Russia, decisions were made about the withdrawal or restriction of supply, just as it happened with natural gas. We need to learn in the context of a hybrid war,» he said.

According to Poroshenko, the Ukrainian ministries were given instructions about preventing future similar situations.

«We need to establish its own production of liquefied natural gas and blocked amounts with Russia should be compensated by the Ukrainian production», – he stressed.

The President added that the government has pledged to reduce the price of gas and to bring the perpetrators to justice until the second half of September.
