The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and US President-elect Donald trump agreed to meet in Washington, D.C., date not specified. About this Poroshenko said in an interview with Bloomberg at the world economic forum in Davos.
«I was one of the first world leaders to whom the President trump called immediately after the election. We had quite a promising conversation, we agreed that immediately after the inauguration… We agreed on the date of my visit to Washington,» the President said.
While Poroshenko did not specify a date for possible negotiations.
During the interview, Poroshenko expressed hope that trump is using all his influence to support the Ukrainians in their struggle against the Russian aggressors. «I think that Donald trump now has a unique opportunity to use its influence to support us in our struggle for freedom and democracy,» — said the Ukrainian resident.
According to him, if the negotiations will force Russia to withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian land and to liberate the Crimea, it would be «very important and positive». According to him, the possibility of such development of events «still exists».
Poroshenko pointed to the fact that «too many people already don’t believe Putin, and for good reason». In such a situation are important first steps trump as President of the United States, said the Ukrainian President.
The head of state stressed that during the last 3 years Ukraine has received very strong bipartisan support from the United States: the American people and the Congress, and the US administration. Poroshenko expressed confidence that this support will continue in the future.

At the same time, Poroshenko will not attend the «Ukrainian Breakfast» son-in-law of former President Leonid Kuchma, billionaires Viktor Pinchuk for his controversial articles in the American press, in which Pinchuk spoke in favor of abandoning Russians occupied Crimea and parts of Donbass in the name of normalizing relations with Russia.
In addition, Pinchuk has played for the lifting of sanctions against the Russian aggressor.
