Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that one of the priorities and objectives of the Cabinet in 2016 is the transition of the Armed forces of Ukraine to contract form of service and factual integration of the Ukrainian army in NATO.
«We actually go to a contract army and the Ukrainian Armed forces, de facto, should become members of NATO, they must fully meet the standards and criteria of the North Atlantic Alliance», — said the Prime Minister during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Thursday, February 11, listing objectives, which sets itself the government in 2016, reports «Interfax-Ukraine».
In turn the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also noted that in the further formation of the Ukrainian troops should take place primarily on contractual basis.
He said this, speaking on this year’s first meeting of the Council for regional development, reported the press service of the President.
«We must use all resources and reserves to ensure the picking of a contract army», – quotes the President his press-service.
At the same time, the President said that has not yet made a decision about the direction of the Verkhovna Rada of the draft law on the announcement of the next wave of mobilization.

Meanwhile, the presidential Administration expects that after raising the salaries of soldiers-the contract employees, the number of people willing to go to serve in the Armed forces of Ukraine will grow.
«At the meeting great attention was given to the mechanism to facilitate the involvement of Ukrainian citizens to serve in the armed forces under the contract», — said at a briefing on Thursday, first Deputy head of the AP Vitaliy Kovalchuk.
He recalled that the contract this year receive a salary of not less than 7 thousand UAH a month. «It gives us hope to expect to attract more contractors and those who are on service under the contract, will continue military service in the armed forces of Ukraine», — he said.
Also, the PA expects that it «will give us the opportunity to minimize the load on the mobilization of citizens in Ukraine in a special period». «Relevant ministries and bodies of Executive power mandated to undertake appropriate outreach activities to engage citizens of Ukraine for military service under the contract», — said Kovalchuk.
As reported, in January the General staff of the Armed forces stated that due to demobilization of military personnel of the fourth wave there was a need to Supplement the APU. Demobilization of the military, who has completed the performance of their duties, is planned in late March — April of the current year.
According to the Minister of defense Stepan Poltorak, the General staff makes the calculations and examining the need for the announcement of the next wave of mobilization.
On 8 February, the chief of staff of the armed forces of Ukraine Viktor muzhenko stated that the need for the next wave of mobilization will depend on the number of military that will be accepted on military service under the contract.
Earlier, President Petro Poroshenko said that you cannot go to a contract army during the war. And the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk called on MPs not to speculate on the subject of a contract army, as a decision on its implementation is the exclusive competence of the President of Ukraine and the government of Ukraine.
