Poroshenko: prechistyj against the persecution of Ukrainians in Russia should be imposed personal sanctions

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko insists on the necessity of sanctions against all those involved in the prosecution of Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian patriots who were being held hostage.

This is stated in the statement Poroshenko, published on the official website of the President on Tuesday 22 March.

«Against all those who contributed to the prosecution of Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian patriots-the hostages who are illegally subjected to torture in the Russian territory, should be imposed personal sanctions — both Ukrainian and international», — said the Ukrainian President.

As reported, today, March 22, the Donetsk town court of the Rostov region (Russian Federation) Savchenko was sentenced to 22 years in prison. A sentence is considered from the moment of arrest, June 30, 2014. At this Savchenko on account of punishment is counted as a stay in custody since 30 June 2014. Thus, Savchenko should be held in colony for 20 years.

On 18 March, Polish media published a list of persons involved in the case of the Ukrainian pilots Hope Savchenko, which in Russia is undergoing trial, and for which it is proposed to impose sanctions. The list of persons includes 46 names. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Friday, March 18, announced the preparation of a new list of persons in respect of whom must be imposed sanctions in connection with their involvement in the torture of 11 political prisoners.
