The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday, 10 November 2016, has signed two laws aimed at establishing social justice and regulating pensions to persons disabled as a result of direct participation in antiterrorist operations to provide him with the ATO and members of their families and the families of the victims.
As the press service of the President, P. Poroshenko signed the law №1678-VIII «On amendments to the law of Ukraine «On pensions of persons discharged from military service and certain other persons» regarding the appointment of pensions to wives (husbands) of killed (dead) servicemen, by taking care children of the breadwinner before reaching 8 years of age and enrolled in military service» (adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on 18 October).
The law regulates issues of pension to wives (husbands) of killed (deceased) servicemen in the ATO, taking care children of the breadwinner under 8 years of age and undergoing military service.
The document also establishes that the current right to pension in case of loss of breadwinner, his wife or husband, regardless of work (performing military service) she (he) may be given if she (he) is busy caring for children, brothers, sisters or grandchildren of the deceased breadwinner who has not attained 8 years of age.
In addition, the President signed the law No. 1673-VIII «On amendments to article 3 of the law of Ukraine «On pensions of persons discharged from military service and certain other persons» concerning additions to the list of persons who have the right to pension on a par with the conscripts and members of their families.»
According to this law, persons who became invalids in connection with injury, injury, concussion or due to diseases associated with direct participation in the ATO, or its implementation, being directly in the areas of operations, members of their families and members of families of persons killed (died) as a result of wounds, injuries, contusions or other injuries of health received during the direct participation in the ATO or ensure its implementation, being directly in its conduct, will be subject to the terms, norms and procedure for pension support established by the law «On pension provision of persons discharged from military service and certain other persons» for conscripts and their family members.
These laws enter into force on the day following the day of publication.
Recall, according to first Vice speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko, about 4 thousand participants of the ATO has already received the status of a war invalid.
