Poroshenko has imposed sanctions against South Sudan and Guinea-Bissau

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on March 17 signed a decree on the application of sanctions to South Sudan and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. The relevant decrees No. 71/2018 and No. 70/2018 published on the website of the President.

Sanctions against southern Sudan, established in accordance with Security Council resolution UN No. 2206 (2015), and in Guinea-Bissau – according to the UN security Council resolution No. 2048 (2012), as stated in the decrees.

Sanctions are imposed for five years.

25 September 2017 in the international human rights organization Amnesty International has said that Ukraine involved in illegal arms shipments to South Sudan.

On September 26, the Center for the study of corruption and organized crime OCCRP reported that the European companies supplying arms to Africa and the middle East through the Ukrainian enterprises.

The Secretary of Council of national security and defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on 28 September said that Ukraine has the right to sell arms to South Sudan because this country has not imposed any restrictions.
