The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with ambassadors of the countries «the Big seven» and the European Union. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.
Poroshenko noted the exceptional importance of the decision of the third Committee to support the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the situation of human rights in Crimea.
«Yesterday’s decision provides additional basis for an international mechanism of de-occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea», — he stressed.
The head of state reiterated that Ukraine remains a strong supporter of legal, political and diplomatic ways of settlement and the issue of Crimea and aggression in the Donbas. The President also stressed the importance of continuing sanctions pressure on Russia, which is not an end in itself but an effective tool to ensure compliance with the Russian party of its obligations under the Minsk agreements.
The President briefed the heads of diplomatic missions of Ukraine’s progress in implementing reforms, especially in the fight against corruption. In this context, it particularly noted the successful completion of the first phase of electronic Declaration in Ukraine.
Poroshenko expressed hope for a proper assessment of reforms in Ukraine with the EU. In this context, they stressed the importance of implementing the EU party and its obligations, including in terms of granting Ukrainians visa-free regime.
«Despite the daunting challenges, which internally is opposed to Ukraine, we faithfully fulfilled his part of the obligations, and entitled to expect the relevant decision by our EU partners», — stressed the Head of state.
The President thanked the capitals of the countries «the Big seven» and the EU for its consistent support of Ukraine, including financial, to carry out difficult but necessary for the country and its European future reforms.
We will remind, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry earlier said that further delaying the EU decision on visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine is unacceptable.
Poroshenko expects that the European Parliament approves visa-free regime for Ukraine in November.
Lidery almost all Ukrainian parliamentary factions signed a draft statement to the European Parliament and the Council of the EU on the issue of granting Ukraine visa-free regime without delay.
