Poroshenko and Lagarde discussed the creation of an anti-corruption court in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with managing Director of the International monetary Fund Christine Lagarde. On 8 December, reported the press service of the head of state.

It is noted that the sides «coordinated approaches to the creation of an anti-corruption court in Ukraine, taking into account the relevant initiatives of the President and ensure the efficient functioning of anti-corruption institutions.»

«The President and the managing Director of the IMF urged political forces in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to demonstrate exceptional responsibility and to unite in support of the bill on the anti-corruption court for its prompt consideration in this year», – stated in the message.

Lagarde stressed that the IMF «supports the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities in the fight against corruption taking into account the achievements towards the creation of appropriate anti-corruption institutions.»

On 9 October, the Venice Commission criticized the Ukrainian bills No. 6011 (attribution Deputy speaker Oksana Syroid (independent), MPs Yegor Sobolev (Samopomich), Ivan Krulko (Batkivshchyna), Sergey Leshchenko, Svetlana Zalishchuk and Moustapha Nayem (Block Poroshenko) and No. 6529 (representative of the bloc of Petro Poroshenko Sergey Alekseev) on the establishment of anticorruption courts in Ukraine. Both initiatives since withdrawn from the Verkhovna Rada.

December 7, Poroshenko said that prepare and submit to Parliament a draft law on the anti-corruption court, if members do not develop the appropriate document.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch expressed hope that the adoption of legislation on anti-corruption court will be held before the end of the year.

The creation of a specialized anti-corruption court is one of the obligations which Ukraine undertook before the international partners – the European Union and the International monetary Fund.

In the present case, investigated by the National anti-corruption Bureau, examines the Solomensky district court, because in this area there is office. Director of the NABU Artem Sytnik noted that the courts often delay business Bureau.
