Poroshenko and Biden agree that Ukraine needs to continue reforms and cooperation with the IMF

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Vice-President of the USA Joseph Biden during a telephone conversation underlined the necessity of continuing reforms in Ukraine.

On Thursday 11 February, reported the press service of the Ukrainian President.

«Joseph Biden noted the importance of leadership in this difficult time. The interlocutors stressed the necessity of continuing reforms in Ukraine, in particular in the context of cooperation with the International monetary Fund», — stated in the message.

Poroshenko informed Biden about the situation in the Donbass. However, he stressed that Ukraine sees no signs of de-escalation by Russia and Pro-Russian militants.

The sides discussed further steps to continue the pressure on the Russian Federation to fulfil the Minsk agreements, as well as political and diplomatic ways of de-occupation of Crimea.

Recall that on 4 February the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Parliament speaker Volodymyr Groysman during the meeting with ambassadors of the countries «Big seven» (G7) had assured them, that will make joint efforts for reforms in the country. The ambassadors of the countries «Big seven» and the EU stressed the importance of maintaining the unity of the Ukrainian authorities in the difficult circumstances of Russian aggression, which today is Ukraine.
