Poroshenko and Aliyev spoke in Davos

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will visit Ukraine on an official visit in 2017 and will take part in the sixth meeting of the Council of presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the press service of the Ukrainian President on Wednesday 18 January.

According to the report, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Aliyev met in Davos (Switzerland) and, in particular, also discussed the preparations for this meeting and stated that the successful implementation of the agreements reached in the framework of the fifth meeting of the Council of presidents, held in Baku in 2016.

The President of Ukraine welcomed the restoration of Azeri oil supplies to Ukraine.

Aliyev in turn said that Azerbaijani investments in Ukraine reached $ 200 million.

The heads of state discussed the projects increase investment in the Ukrainian economy and reiterated mutual interest in deepening bilateral cooperation: trade and economic relations, cooperation in energy, aircraft construction and other industries.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries, and stressed the importance of further consolidation of efforts in upholding basic principles of international law and the confrontation of modern challenges. Outlined the actual directions of cooperation within international and regional organizations, in particular the Organization for democracy and economic development GUAM.

As reported, in July last year the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko visited Azerbaijan on two-day official visit. Poroshenko and Aliyev discussed cooperation in the energy sector, as well as deepening cooperation within international organizations.
