Poland signed a five-year contract to supply liquefied natural gas from USA

The Polish gas company PGNiG has signed with the British company Centrica LNG Co Ltd a five-year contract to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the American terminal Sabine Pass LNG Terminal, announced on November 21 the press service of PGNiG.

Deliveries will begin in 2018. For the duration of the contract in the LNG terminal the name of President Lech Kaczynski in Polish świnoujście will take up to nine batches of liquefied natural gas.

According to the Executive Director and the Chairman of the management Board of PGNiG Piotr Wozniak, the agreement shows that the company is «entering a new level of activity in the global LNG market».

«This agreement is the first of its kind in the planned portfolio of medium-term agreements on LNG to PGNiG», – he said.

Wozniak added that most of the contracts on the supply of LNG will aim at increasing the energy security of Central Europe, in countries which «have historically been dominated by Russian gas.»

The Russian company «Gazprom» is a monopolist of the gas market in Central and Eastern Europe.
